During the month of October, awareness of breast cancer is heightened and some misleading facts can be passed around, so it is important to know what is a myth and what is a fact.

For instance, many younger women believe they are too young to get breast cancer, when in reality, 25% of women with breast cancer are under 50 years old. Another myth is that if you find a lump, it is cancer, when in fact, 80% of lumps in women’s breasts are caused by noncancerous changes, cysts, or other conditions. It is important to speak with your doctor if you are concerned about your cancer risk. For more myths and facts about breast cancer, click here

At Mosharrafa Plastic Surgery, Dr. Ali Mosharrafa and Dr. Tamir Mosharrafa are dedicated to breast cancer awareness, but also want to bring awareness regarding breast reconstruction surgery. There are many options available for women following a mastectomy, and the medical team at Mosharrafa Plastic Surgery ensures that every woman feels safe and comfortable throughout her experience with us.

Back to Overview

A breast cancer diagnosis is overwhelming in so many ways. There are a lot of emotions. Dr. Ali Mosharrafa and his entire staff put me at ease at every step. After surgery, I was very self conscious, and the way I was treated with each visit helped me as much as the excellent medical care. Whether it is for an elective procedure or a surgery due to illness, I cannot endorse Dr. Ali more as a physician and human.
