A brachioplasty can be done in a number of methods. If a patient has firm, elastic skin under the arms, liposuction cosmetic surgery is a suitable solution. Liposuction allows our plastic surgeons to sculpt and reduce the upper arm size by removing excess fat. The skin is then able to fit the slimmer shape.
Patients with loose, sagging skin under their upper arms, liposuction is not likely the solution. Removing fat under the arm will not do the trick, because the already sagging skin is not able to reshape to a smaller shape. For these patients, Dr. Tamir Mosharrafa or Dr. Ali Mosharrafa will specially tailor the skin by removing both fat and skin. This procedure is what is known as brachioplasty (arm lift).
Both a brachioplasty and liposuction ultimately achieve similar results, to create a slimmer, more appealing upper arm.
