There are more options available than ever if you’re interested in cosmetic surgery procedures. One of the newest types of liposuction is VASER liposuction, which can quickly eliminate unwanted fat through ultrasonic technology. It can feel overwhelming to look at your liposuction options, so here’s what to know about this treatment and how it can help achieve your body goals.

What is VASER Liposuction?

VASER liposuction is a cosmetic surgery procedure that uses ultrasonic vibration and sound technology to remove stubborn fat. The fat is broken up with extremely fast vibrations so it can be more easily removed using a cannula and surgical vacuum.

It can be effectively used on a variety of treatment areas including the abdomen, hips, buttocks, thighs, calves, neck, chin, back, calves, and ankles. It’s also highly effective at treating gynecomastia, a condition that results in enlarged male breasts.

What Happens During VASER Liposuction Treatment?

VASER liposuction is performed by a board-certified plastic surgeon with local anesthesia. Once you’re ready, a tumescent solution is injected into the area in order to expand the area of fat and constrict small blood vessels. This is done to allow for the breakdown of the fat tissue and reduce bruising. The ultrasound probe is then inserted into the area to break up fat for easier removal.

The Benefits of VASER Liposuction

There are certain benefits you can enjoy with VASER liposuction. These include:

• Reduced trauma to the surrounding tissues
• Less swelling and bruising than traditional liposuction
• Less pain than traditional liposuction
• Virtually permanent results
• Minimal downtime

Does VASER Liposuction Tighten the Skin?

Generally, skin tightening is not the main goal of VASER liposuction. However, there is some heat generated during the procedure which can contract the deep layers of the skin and generate new collagen production. For substantial skin tightening, you may need to consider a surgical lift procedure instead. Your board-certified plastic surgeon can give you the best idea of what your surgical plan should look like.

What’s the Average Recovery Time?

You may need to take one or two weeks away from work and your regular schedule. Your exact recovery timeframe can depend on factors like the size and location of your treatment area. On average, most patients need seven to 10 days to recover after VASER liposuction treatment.

A breast cancer diagnosis is overwhelming in so many ways. There are a lot of emotions. Dr. Ali Mosharrafa and his entire staff put me at ease at every step. After surgery, I was very self conscious, and the way I was treated with each visit helped me as much as the excellent medical care. Whether it is for an elective procedure or a surgery due to illness, I cannot endorse Dr. Ali more as a physician and human.
