Maintaining a healthy diet and exercising regularly are crucial to enjoying a toned, fit figure. However, these efforts can only do so much. Our bodies are genetically predisposed to store fat in certain locations, and often these are the last places where you want the fat to go. If you have struggled to get rid of stubborn pockets of fat that do not seem to respond to your best efforts, then liposuction may be a way to achieve your ideal figure.

Why Choose Liposuction?

Liposuction can be a life-changing experience for many of our patients.

Some common reasons patients opt for this procedure include:

  • Improved body contour
  • A more toned, fit figure
  • Improved health associated with fat loss
  • Motivation to maintain your new figure with a healthy lifestyle
  • Improved self-image and increased self-confidence

Additionally, liposuction is a highly versatile procedure that can be performed on many different areas of the body and be combined with other surgical procedures. Liposuction has a long history of safety and effective results, making it one of the best minimally invasive options for body contouring.

Your Customized Liposuction Procedure

We offer two liposuction technologies, and our plastic surgeons can recommend the right option for you during a consultation.

Tumescent Liposuction

This type of liposuction is sometimes called ‘traditional’ liposuction. It uses a special tumescent solution which is injected into the treatment area to numb the area and help break up fat. It also causes the nearby blood vessels to constrict, reducing bleeding and bruising during the procedure. Then, a small incision is made and a cannula is inserted to break up fat and suction it out with a gentle sweeping motion.

Ultrasonic Liposuction

Ultrasonic liposuction offers the benefits of effective skin tightening along with fat reduction. This is achieved by a specialized cannula which emits ultrasonic vibrations to break up fat deposits for easier removal. The liquefied fat is then removed through suction.

My whole experience was wonderful. Everyone was very accommodating and kind. – A.W.

Liposuction Recovery

Once your procedure is complete, Dr. Ali and Dr. Tamir will review your post-surgical aftercare instructions so you know what to expect from your recovery. Due to the use of anesthesia with your procedure, you will need to arrange for someone to drive you home and stay with you for the remainder of the day. It is important to get plenty of rest immediately following surgery, and make sure to drink plenty of fluids.

Make sure you take all medications as directed to manage any soreness or discomfort and to help prevent infection. You will also need to wear a compression garment for the first few weeks of recovery to control swelling and reduce your recovery time.

You will return to our Phoenix plastic surgery office for a follow-up visit in 2-3 days. Dr. Ali and Dr. Tamir will let you know whether it is safe to return to work after this visit. In most instances, resuming work after a week is fine, but the exact timetable will depend on the specifics of your recovery. Dr. Ali and Dr. Tamir will also give you detailed instructions regarding when you can resume exercise. It is important to follow these instructions carefully to ensure proper healing.

Your initial results should be visible within one or two weeks. However, these results will gradually continue to improve as your swelling subsides during the healing process. It may take several months before the final results are visible.
