The upper portion of the face plays an important role in conveying emotion and expressions to others. If the forces of gravity have caused your forehead to sag as part of the aging process, you might find that you are giving off unintended signals to others. If you find that friends and family often comment that you seem tired or angry (even if you do not feel like it), it may be due to forehead laxity. This can have a significant impact on the way people perceive you.

Fortunately, a brow lift is one of the best ways to rejuvenate the upper face with surgical techniques. This procedure, also referred to as a forehead lift, will lift and smooth the forehead region, eliminating the tired or angry appearance commonly caused by the aging process.

Why Choose a Brow Lift?

A brow lift can have a dramatic impact on your appearance. Some of the benefits include:

  • Reduction of deep furrows
  • Softening or elimination of horizontal lines
  • Improvement in the position and shape of the eyebrows, creating a youthful arch to the brow
  • Reduction in the appearance of frown lines

In addition to these aesthetic improvements, you may also experience emotional benefits like a boost in self-confidence. By reducing the sagging and aged appearance of your brow, you can make a better impression in your personal and professional lives.

Am I a Candidate?

In general, most brow lift candidates are men and women between the ages of 40 and 70 who would like to achieve effective upper facial rejuvenation. You should be in good overall health and have realistic expectations for the outcome of your procedure. If you are a smoker, you must be willing to quit prior to your procedure and throughout the recovery since smoking can adversely impact healing. During a consultation with Dr. Ali and Dr. Tamir, we can determine whether you can benefit from a brow lift or should opt for non-surgical solutions like Botox® instead.

Your Customized Brow Lift Procedure

Your plastic surgeon will customize your brow lift procedure based on your unique facial features, signs of aging, and aesthetic goals. In some instances, Dr. Ali and Dr. Tamir may recommend eyelid surgery in conjunction with a brow lift to open and rejuvenate the upper and lower eyelids. The procedure can also be performed at the same time as a facelift. There are generally two types of brow lift that can be performed based on your goals and anatomy.

Endoscopic Brow Lift

This technique uses a few small incisions (each less than an inch long) which are hidden behind the hairline. A camera is then used to assist with the release and elevation of the forehead. The endoscopic technique offers the benefits of reduced scarring and recovery time.

Open Brow Lift

This technique utilizes an incision behind the hairline that is well concealed, even when swimming or in windy conditions. Forehead skin is then removed to smooth out any furrows or wrinkles, similar to the facelift. This can require longer downtime but produces more extensive results.

Will a brow lift affect my hairline or cause visible scarring?

Scarring is an inevitable part of any surgical procedure, but with modern techniques, scars are often well hidden within the hairline or natural creases. Your surgeon will discuss the placement of incisions and expected scarring during the consultation, and proper aftercare can help minimize the visibility of scars.

From the moment I met dr Ali Mosharrafa I knew I wanted him to do my surgery. He did a face, neck and brow lift. His calm and capable demeanor assured me I was in good hands. I am now 4 months post op and couldn’t be happier. I look like myself (my biggest fear was I would look good but not like me). My eyes are bright again, my neck and face look youthful and refreshed and I feel good about myself. Everyone you encounter from the moment you walk in is warm, helpful and very professional. If I ever need something else done I won’t hesitate to come back. I don’t live in Arizona, I traveled here from Alaska…based on Dr. Mosharrafa’s reputation. If you are considering having something done, please know you are in good hands.
