Over time, it is common for the breasts to begin to undergo certain changes. Due to factors like pregnancy, aging, and gravity, your breasts may begin to sag. Most women experience these changes at some point and to varying degrees. Fortunately, you can restore a perky, youthful breast appearance with a breast lift procedure.

 Why Choose a Breast Lift?

Although breast augmentation is the most popular breast surgery choice, there are many benefits of choosing a breast lift. In general, a breast lift aims to reshape and rejuvenate sagging breasts so that they are in a more upright, free-standing position. It is important to note that a breast lift on its own does not enhance the size or shape of the breasts, although a breast lift can be performed with the help of implants if you want to augment your breasts as well.

Your Customized Breast Lift Procedure

The goal of a breast lift is to reshape the skin and breast mound, remove and tighten excess skin, and reposition the nipples and areolae. However, the breast lift comes with some unique decisions to be made during your consultation. Dr. Ali and Dr. Tamir will discuss each of these factors at length during a consultation.

Incisions

Your breast lift procedure will be customized based on your unique body type and aesthetic goals. Dr. Ali and Dr. Tamir prefer to perform a Wise Pattern lift, which uses the anchor incision. The anchor incision circles around the areola, extends down vertically to the breast crease, and then horizontally along the breast crease. However, other incision patterns exist and are called the periareolar (around the nipple) and keyhole incisions. Dr. Ali and Dr. Tamir perform the Wise Pattern lift because this technique gives them the greatest amount of control over the shape of your breasts. In addition, the use of the anchor incision achieves the most lifting, making it particularly effective for women with moderate to severe sagging issues.

Implants

Dr. Ali and Dr. Tamir may recommend breast augmentation with a breast lift in order to simultaneously restore lost volume, achieve a more pleasing size and shape, and regain a more youthful breast appearance. Some women choose to add implants to their breast lift, and some do not. If you would like to increase the size of your breasts at the same time as reshaping and rejuvenating them, then your plastic surgeon can guide you to the right implant choice.
