Video Description

I’m Dr. Ali Mosharrafa at Mosharrafa Plastic Surgery, and one of the common problems among men is extra male breast tissue or gynecomastia. One of the questions I get commonly is, “How do we treat it? How do we remove it?” Well, the mainstay of treatment is involved in liposuction, and that’s how we remove most of the tissue in most cases. Liposuction is a procedure done with very small incisions hidden in very inconspicuous places that uses ultrasound energy, or other types of energy, to dissolve the tissue, and then it’s removed through a suction device. It’s an outpatient procedure, lasts typically less than an hour, and patients are back to work and regular activities within a week. Now, there are some patients, unfortunately, that have extra skin that’s beyond which can be treated with the technique I just described. And, in very rare cases, we have to remove skin as well, which unfortunately does put extra scars on the chest. But, that’s an unusual situation in patients to have a large amount of breast tissue and skin. I hope you find this information helpful. If I can answer any other questions about gynecomastia surgery, or any other type of surgical procedure, please call me at 602-513-8133 or visit our website at www.mosharrafa.com.

A breast cancer diagnosis is overwhelming in so many ways. There are a lot of emotions. Dr. Ali Mosharrafa and his entire staff put me at ease at every step. After surgery, I was very self conscious, and the way I was treated with each visit helped me as much as the excellent medical care. Whether it is for an elective procedure or a surgery due to illness, I cannot endorse Dr. Ali more as a physician and human.
