I’m Dr. Ali Mosharrafa at Mosharrafa Plastic Surgery. One of the questions I get often times is, “How old do you have to be to have a rhinoplasty or a nose job? Or is there a right age for a rhinoplasty?” Well, the answer is, you have to be socially mature. After 20 years of practice, I will tell you that in rhinoplasty surgery, you’re making a change to a patient’s face which is life lasting. It is going to change their persona; it is going to change their appearance. And, to me, the single most important factor is: what is the patient’s level of maturity? Now chronologically, I’ve done rhinoplasties or nose jobs on patients as young as 16 years old. I’m not sure that I would go younger than that. But, those 16-year-olds I can tell you were very mature, understood the changes we were talking about making, and were also able to handle those changes emotionally and socially after the surgical procedure. These consultations require a tremendous amount of communication with the patient and their parents to make sure that everybody is properly informed about the surgical procedure, the risks involved, and the expectations afterward. There is no ideal age for a rhinoplasty, but there is an ideal situation, which is social maturity, emotional maturity, and in my practice I’ve done rhinoplasties from age 16 to 80. That’s my answer. I hope this was helpful to you. If you have other questions about rhinoplasty surgery, please feel free to call our office at 602-513-8133 or visit our website at www.mosharrafa.com.

A breast cancer diagnosis is overwhelming in so many ways. There are a lot of emotions. Dr. Ali Mosharrafa and his entire staff put me at ease at every step. After surgery, I was very self conscious, and the way I was treated with each visit helped me as much as the excellent medical care. Whether it is for an elective procedure or a surgery due to illness, I cannot endorse Dr. Ali more as a physician and human.
